1. Visit a horse farm, clinic or feed mill...of course!
Obviously, visiting one of our member locations is at the top of the list! You can't visit the horse capital of the world and not see horses! Horse Country is home to the sport's most decorated and well-loved athletes.
2. Tour the Kentucky Horse Park
Continuing with our equine theme, we happily encourage fans of all ages to venture our to the Kentucky Horse Park where you can learn about all equine disciplines such as hunter/jumper, police horses, and even trail riding.
3. Visit a distillery
...if that is your cup of tea (or bourbon!). The real "Unbridled Spirit" of Kentucky is our barrel aged bourbon. In fact, there are more barrels of bourbon than there are people- a ratio we are happy to maintain!
4. Get outdoor-sy
The Kentucky landscape is unlike any other. The rolling hills and blue grass are what post card dreams are made of. Get up close and personal with nature at one of the many hiking trails or lakes- Red River Gorge, Raven Run, and Cave Run Lake are all great places to start.
5. Family Time
Summer is meant to be spent with your loved ones so grab the family and head out to one of the many activities hosted around Lexington that are great for all ages! VisitLex is a great resource for planning a fun day out- educational too! But we won't tell the kiddos if you don't.
6. Keeneland tours
If you are game to wake up a little early, Keeneland offers some pretty incredible behind the scenes tours where you might even see thoroughbred work outs! We definitely think it is worth the early wake up call!
7. Eat your heart out
Central Kentucky has some of the BEST southern cooking you can find! After a long day of exploring, nothing can revive the soul like comfort food.
