At Horse Country, we are proud to be a part of helping fans meet their favorite past champions and future contenders. Accessing behind-the-scenes experiences at the iconic studs, nurseries, a feed mill and equine clinics is a bucket list experience for longtime fans and leisure travelers alike. We know that guests love the opportunities they have to visit Horse Country, but how did our organization come to be, and what does the cost of admission go toward? Horse Country is the result of a dedicated group of industry leaders, who came together to “Share the dream inspired by the Thoroughbred.” They believed that by opening their gates in a coordinated, regular way – and investing in providing an excellent experience once guests were on property, they could contribute to the sport’s fan development. What better way to fall in love with racing than to fall in love with the horse?
The locations that are members of Horse Country formed our not-for-profit organization to share that love, but also wanted to make sure it was sustainable for the future as well; and to give back to our community and industry. That’s why it’s important to know that you, our guests, who have attended tours at our member locations have played a role in supporting groups such as the Old Friends, New Vocations, the Secretariat Center, Grayson Jockey Research Foundation and others.
In some cases, proceeds from the tours are donated to the local school systems, and we have also been able to provide scholarship visits for educational groups and tour donations to various events that have raised funds for causes like Thursday's Child and Old Mim's Retirement Haven.
We are thankful to get to be a part of the story of the horse, and his fans, and love the chance to give back. We want to extend our gratitude to all who make this possible! You can play a part by booking your ticket to visit our members at visithorsecountry.com.
